Introducing the "Rider of the Season" Award: Win a Custom Vincent Kamp Oil Painting

We are thrilled to announce a brand-new honour for the upcoming Cyclocross season: the Rider of the Season award.

This prestigious new prize elevates our weekly racing. It connects the hard work on the mud with incredible local creative talent.

How It Works

  • The Nominations: Every race day, riders are nominated by you, our community, for the Challenge Rider of the Day award.
  • The Selection: The final "Rider of the Season" winner will be chosen exclusively from this pool of daily heroes after Round 10.
  • The Decision: The LCCA Committee will vote to select the overall season winner.
  • The Criteria: We are looking for grit, sportsmanship, and the true spirit of Cyclocross.

What is the "Challenge Rider of the Day"?

The Challenge Rider of the Day isn’t always the person who crosses the finish line first. It is an award given out at every single round to recognise a rider who truly embodies the heart of Cyclocross.

This award is chosen by you. We want our community to actively nominate riders who stand out on race day. Whether it is a rider fighting back from a mechanical failure, someone showing incredible sportsmanship to a fellow racer, or an individual showing sheer grit and determination just to finish, this award celebrates the unsung heroes of the day.

Each round's winner takes home an incredible immediate prize: a pair of Challenge Pro Tubeless cross tyres worth £120 RRP. These daily winners will be celebrated and presented with their new tyres right at the start line of their next race in front of the entire grid. Every single daily winner automatically becomes a finalist for the ultimate end-of-season prize.

The Prize: Fine Art Meets Mud

The overall winner will take home an extraordinary, one-of-a-kind prize: a custom commission painting of themselves by renowned artist and league racer Vincent Kamp.

To claim this unique prize, the winner simply needs to provide a favourite race photo from the season. Vincent will then bring that specific racing moment to life using oil paint on canvas.

The final masterpiece will be personally presented to the rider by Vince at the LCCA Team Champs and Prize Presentation at Cyclopark at the end of the season.

Vincent is no stranger to our grid. He made a successful return to Cyclocross last season, placing an impressive 2nd Overall in the Masters 50 category at the Challenge Tires London and South East League.

About the Artist & Full Gas Art

Vincent’s connection to the sport runs deep. In his own words:

"I have been riding bikes and drawing pictures since I was knee-high to a grasshopper. I don’t know which came first, only that I have always loved both in equal measure—and that one feeds off the other.

In my teens, I raced on the dirt a lot. I trained after my paper round before school and then again after school. I did OK in Cyclocross and MTB and won a few races. I was even sponsored and toured around the country racing national points series. Decades later, I’m still messing around in the woods with the same bunch of guys.
Me in December 1991 London mtb champs at Shirley Hills.

Painting came much later. While I built a career supplying galleries with fine art oil paintings, I have always painted cyclists for fun on the side. This little project is gaining momentum, and so I have decided to share the work here."

Through his project, Full Gas Art, Vincent captures the raw intensity of cycling—from local mud to dynamic portraits of world-class icons. His work brings the speed and grit of the peloton straight onto canvas.
