Seun Aderibidge is the Challenge Rider of the Week at R3 Crystal Palace
Seun Aderibidge is the Challenge Rider of the Week at R3 Crystal Palace.
Now this is not the first time Seun has received this price as he won in the 2024/2025 Season, this is a rare thing but what he did at Crystal Palace is a fine example of how great our sport of Cyclo Cross is.
Andy Watson-Smith Nominated Seun and writes....
I’d like to nominate Seun Aderibidge for the Crystal Palace rider of the day award.
Early in my doomed attempt to finish in the top half of the M50 race I felt the familiar squidge of a flat tyre, assuming I’d burped it I nursed it back to the pits, located a pump and restored it to a rideable pressure. I ‘shot’ off, only to realise that by the time I reached the hurdles, all that fresh and lovely Crystal Palace air had exited the tyre again. Not wanting to give up, and figuring I might win a Rider of the Day award if I ran far enough, I set off for a half lap jog to the next pit opportunity.
Out on the far reaches of the course Seun was there cheering everyone on, saw my predicament and offered me a wheel which was sat in the pits, he even told me it was a Baby Limus and asked what tyre pressure I wanted - a true pro! While I limped around, Seun headed to the pits and waited for me, then swiftly replaced my wheel and gave me a push in the right direction. Race saved!
I should mention that I'd never spoken to Seun before so he was providing this fine service for a total stranger. He's a cyclocross hero, and deserves to be recognised for it!
